And now, from the "Proof that Garth Brooks is so untalented that he has to create a mini-monopoly" files and Yahoo! News...

In Garth we trust?
(Ask his ex-wife that question, and see what she says)

Brooks Albums to Only Be Sold at Wal-Mart
2 hours, 5 minutes ago

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Country superstar Garth Brooks has signed an exclusive multiyear contract with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (In a related story, employees of Best Buy and Tower Records were seen dancing celebratory jigs all across America.)

No details of the agreement were released by Wal-Mart officials Friday, but Billboard and the Los Angeles Times reported the deal will make Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and their online outlets the only places where Brooks' music will be commercially available. (Gee...great...now I can get Slim Whitman and Garth Brooks at the same place.)

Brooks, among the all-time best-selling recording artists, retired from performing in 2001. (However, we never really seem to be rid of ol' Baldy; why is that? Can you say "narcissism"?)

"We understand the Wal-Mart customer and know that bringing them Garth Brooks exclusives in the upcoming years is something that'll excite them as much as it excites us," said David Porter, vice president and divisional merchandise manager for Wal-Mart, a leading retailer for country music sales. (I wonder...all those studio musicians he works with have to be union. What would they think if they found out that ol' Garthie has sold out to an extremely anti-union employer? Somethin' tells me they'll take his expensive Stetson and shove it up his ol' Wazoo!)

Brooks' hits include "Friends in Low Places," "Shameless" and "Longneck Bottle." (Although, truth be told, I think Billy Joel wrote "Shameless" and performed it on one of his later albums, and it was BETTER than GARTH'S rendition, THANK YOU!!!!)

Sudiegirl sez: I have NEVER liked Garth Brooks. I have always thought he was nothing more than a hack that's ashamed of his bald spot. I've read articles about him being "honest" about his past when he screwed around on his first wife with half of the state of Oklahoma, so when he put his first wife (who SUPPORTED HIM THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER and BORE his CHILDREN) in the dumper for Trisha Yearwood, I wasn't really surprised that he did that. As stand-up comedienne Felicia Michaels said, "I slept with a musician, and musicians are scummy." If she had amended it to "musicians that spend way too much money on hats and not enough money on Rogaine," she would have had my vote but ANYWAY...

When I read this article...I was every imaginable shade of pissed. I mean, come on! That's "stacking the deck", isn't it? I mean, it's one thing if you buy K-Mart brand oven cleaner, or Target brand mousetraps. It's another thing entirely when you're so afraid that people are sick of your sound that you have to negotiate with Wal-Mart and create a Gates-esque music monopoly.

And BTW, with regards to Wally world's statement about being in touch with the Wal-Mart customer, many of them are working-class folks, and many of them know your stance on Unions and how you treat your employees. Besides, if you were really in touch with your customers, you wouldn't make low-rise pants for fat chicks.

I think Tweety says it best...take it away, Tweety...

"Gawth's got fwiends in high pwaces,
which is vewy good 'cuz he's got no twaces
of tawent there..
pwus he's got no hair..."
On that "note" I remain your follically unchallenged and anti-sellout Sudiegirl.
However, I do have friends in low places, and all of them hate Garth Brooks too.
