Todays guest blogger is...
Today’s guest blogger is “Jewel”…you can take a look at her own bloggerificness at jewelsrule.tblog.com. The only biographical piece of info I could give about her is that she most identifies with the Tasmanian Devil cartoon character. So on that note…read away!
DEATH OF A BLOG
I was an eye witness to the death of a blog last week. Idiots and the Disgusting Girl I Work With died a quick, and apparently violent, death on Friday morning, at approximately 6 a.m.
I read the blog daily with my morning caffeine fix. “Madman” blogged mostly about the disgusting girl (DG) he worked with and her unbelievable exploits. Made Jerry Springer guests look like the MENSA club! However, I had rumblings of trouble a few days back when i realized Madman was using more names (not changed to protect the innocent) and giving more information that lead one to believe that others at his place of employment were aware of (and even participating in) his blog. I thought to myself, "Jewels, this guy's headed for trouble." Yep. I did.
Now we all know Big Brother watches us (at least at work) and sometimes those we write about discover our not so personal thoughts and become offended. This said, I grabbed my morning Dr. Pepper (screw coffee!) and booted up my computer to read the lastest DG update. This was at 5:30 a.m. (he had posted at 5:15 a.m.--we're in the same time zone). I was surprised to see he had 26 comments, so soon after he'd posted. Curious, I clicked to read. I came upon about 10 in a row giving his Madman's "true identity", address and phone number along with many disparaging comments. (Gosh, that's kinds like someone telling Lex Luthor that Superman really WAS Clark Kent and worked at the newspaper, and here's his direct line....)
Then MORE messages popped up threatening to give out his home phone number and threatening to sue his ass off if he didn't remove the site immediately.
And then....it was gone. Just like that. Now it says, "Move on, nothing to see here."
Which leads me to a couple of conclusions.
#1. DG (or a "friend") discovered the site. and
#2 Madman was forced to pull the plug.
but leaves these questions unanswered:
#1. Did Madman get canned?
#2. Did he REALLY think he could blog from work and not get found out?
#3 Madman's supervisor AND assistant apparently knew of his involvement with the blog (assistant even vented once on it). Did either of them get canned?
#4 Did DG sue the company? Cuz I'm thinking, she was about 9 months pregnant and trying to sue the IUD company, so she's looking for a cushy windfall.
So the moral of this story my kiddies, is: "If ya can't say something nice....don't say nothin'" (at least nothing that can identify you!)
AND
Be careful about blogging from work! Big Brother and your own DG may be watching!
Well said, Jeweleroo...thanks for writing!
