From Kandace S. about the wiles of a 4 year old boy

From the mind of Kandace S.

...Jacob's my youngest and he's four and he lives by the "why not" philosophy. If something anything enters into his head for a brief second, he has to try it, why not. Anyway when I picked him up from the bus today (they bus the kids to preschool) he was the first kid off. Which translates into he was sitting in the front. I know he was assigned a seat in the middle of the bus. Here's Jacob's explanation:

me: why are you sitting at the front of the bus?
Jacob: That's where I'm suppose to sit
me: did you get in trouble?
J: no
me: where you being naughty on the bus so you had to move to the front of the bus?
J: no, I'm good that's why I get to sit in the front of the bus (big brown eyes and eyelashes flickering for the angelic effect)
me: I thought you sat in the back
J: I do, I sit in back of the driver
me: ok but wasn't your seat in the middle of the bus
J: yes, but when you're good you get to sit in the front of the bus and I'm always good so I get to sit in the front of the bus
me: were you bouncing in your seat
J: (looks down, pouts, closes his eyes) yes
me: is that why you're sitting in the front of the bus
J: yes
me: how do you think I know that
J: because you're smart

got to give the kid credit for trying and telling the truth when faced with the question point blank

also he was really really proud of himself early this week because he did NOT get in trouble at school that day

Sudiegirl's response?

Did I mention the whole "I have a cat" thing? At least Kandace is not in denial about kids being sneaky...some folks are, and they'll be in for the shock of their lives.

Bye for now...I'll have some more over the weekend, I am sure.
