Windin' down on a hot summer night
Hey all...it was another hot one in DC today. Like THAT's news. Oh well, at any rate, I'm just winding down with an actual written entry, not inserting my supercilious opinions in a news article or two.
So how's life, you ask? Well, maybe you didn't, and so what? I'm telling you anyway whether you wanna know or not, so there. Work is work, and I'm searching for full-time work with benefits. It's a pain in the a** to "sell myself" in an interview...I feel like such a huckster. Oh well...that's how it goes sometimes. I should have some feedback on one or two leads by the end of the week, which will be good.
In Dad news, he's doing better, but it's a long road ahead. He's still got a sense of humor about him in spite of all he's been through, you know?
In the "I'm feeling SO old" department, I found out that two of my cousins are expectant parents...one is due on her own birthday, and I don't know when the wife of my other cousin is due. I used to babysit these kids! Where has the time gone? Right out the window, apparently. In addition, one of my cousins will be shipped out to Iraq to drive an ambulance for a medical unit, and the other one won't be able to go for medical reasons. I'm sure he has all kinds of mixed feelings...relief, frustration, etc. Not easy, to say the least.
Also, in the happy news arena, another panda cub was born today at the San Diego Zoo. Yay! I think pandas are cute, but from what I read, they're likely to tear your leg off if you get between them and the bamboo. Not cool. They say koalas are cranky too. You would be if you did nothing all day but eat eucalyptus leaves and poop out cough drops, you know?
OK, I know the question is out there..."Why did Sudiegirl choose a picture of Wilma Flinstone and Betty Rubble?" Because I think women the world over can learn some lessons from these prehistoric cuties. Why?
- They manage to stay friends, even when their husbands fight (most of the time...otherwise, if they're mad at each other, they don't stay that way very long.
- They stick together through thick and thin.
- They don't compete with each other much at all...they're both equally cute, and I'm sure they've each had the opportunity to seduce the other's husband, but they're certainly not "Desperate Prehistoric Housewives".
And on that note, my wonderful little turkey pot pies, I shall bid you good evening. Have a great tomorrow!
Jurassically yours,
Sudiegirl
