A North Liberty woman faces multiple charges after allegedly biting her sister in the forehead after crashing into her car Monday in Coralville.

Police arrested Monika Renee McCambry, 27, for assault causing injury, assault while using a dangerous weapon and child endangerment. Police filed the latter charge because McCambry's 2-year-old son was in the back seat of her car during the crash and altercation.

Coralville Police Lt. Ron Wenman declined to say much about why the two were fighting, other than to say it remains under investigation.

"I think it's a weird situation all around, especially involving sisters," Wenman said.

According to police:

McCambry and her 25-year-old sister were having a fight at about 2 p.m. Monday. The sister left the scene in her vehicle, but McCambry followed her. McCambry's sister stopped to pick up her mother and McCambry struck the back end of her sister's vehicle at Outer Ring Road near the south Coral Ridge Mall entrance off Highway 965 to "lure her out of the car to provoke another confrontation."

There also was a 6-month-old child seated in the back of McCambry's sister's car.

Once outside the car, McCambry grabbed her sister's head, bit her forehead leaving a large bump and open cut causing pain, police reports state. Court records show McCambry also pulled out two clumps of her sister's hair during the altercation.

A judge set McCambry's bond at $12,500 after her initial court appearance Tuesday morning in Johnson County District Court.

Johnson County public defender Tom Woods was appointed to represent McCambry. He was out of the office Tuesday and not available for comment.

McCambry faces a maximum three years imprisonment and $11,500 in fines if convicted on all charges.

Sudiegirl sez:

I think the last time I bit my sister was when I was 8.

This is just really gross...great. My homestate inspires me so much, I just had to share.
